pH Via Proton Concentration

A solution has a hydrogen ion concentration measured by chemical means.
It has a concentration of H+ = 5.23 x 10-8. What is the pH value of the solution?

Whenever you see a lowercase p, it means 'take the negative log of'
pH means take the negative log of [H+], the proton concentration

So let's do just that

pH = -log [H+]
pH = -log [5.23 x 10-8]
pH = -(-7.28)
pH = 7.28

The pH of this solution is 7.28
